Depot by The Heim Residences Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Depot by The Heim Residences on Addington Street, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building has this industrial-chic vibe that feels authentically Manchester — you know, that perfect blend of old warehouse character with modern touches that the city does so well. It’s a four-star property that doesn’t try too hard to impress, which honestly makes it more impressive. The attention to detail throughout the property reflects a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction and comfort.

Prime Manchester Location

The location is genuinely brilliant, and I mean that — you’re right in the heart of Manchester without being stuck in some touristy bubble. From here, you can walk to the Northern Quarter in about five minutes, which is perfect if you’re into independent shops and proper coffee. The train stations are close enough that you won’t need a taxi, but far enough that you’re not dealing with constant noise. What I really appreciated is how you’re surrounded by actual Manchester life — local pubs, small restaurants that aren’t just for tourists, that sort of thing. The neighborhood truly captures the authentic spirit of the city.

The Room Experience

My room had that warehouse conversion feel done right — high ceilings, exposed brick, but with all the modern comforts you actually need. The bed was properly comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and there’s decent space to spread out your stuff. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with a shower that actually has good water pressure. You’ll find little touches that show someone thought about what travelers really want, like enough plugs near the bed and blackout curtains that work. Each room is thoughtfully appointed to enhance your stay.

Dining and Amenities

There’s an on-site restaurant that serves solid food without trying to be fancy — think elevated pub fare that actually tastes good rather than just looking Instagram-ready. The staff seem to know what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given in Manchester hotels. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, but that’s just Manchester city center for you — most guests either walk everywhere or use public transport anyway. The kitchen facilities available in select accommodations provide additional flexibility for longer stays.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it feels like you’re staying somewhere that belongs in Manchester, rather than some generic hotel that could be anywhere. Couples particularly seem to love it here — there’s something about the atmosphere that works well for romantic city breaks without being overly themed or cheesy. The 8.7 rating makes sense when you experience how everything just works smoothly, from check-in to the little details in your room. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’ve discovered something special, even though it’s right there in the city center where everyone can find it. This property truly represents the best of contemporary Manchester hospitality.

Hotels near me in Manchester deliver short tram hops to stadium tours, science museums, and theatre premieres.

Where do I start?! Incredible place in an incredible location, with absolutely amazing customer service. Located on the edge of Northern Quarter and just around the corner is a lovely pub called the Crowne & Kettle. The property itself is honestly gorgeous – the living space with the cinema and pool table was so cool, and the sofa was so comfy – so were the beds. Honestly cant rate this property highly enough. The customer service team were always on hand if we had any questions too. 10* stay – I'd give more if I could!
