Malmaison Manchester Deansgate Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Malmaison Manchester Deansgate feels like stepping into someone’s really well-designed apartment — if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. This four-star boutique hotel sits right on Princess Street, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better. You’re literally in the heart of Manchester‘s city center, with everything from the Northern Quarter’s indie shops to the main shopping districts just a few minutes’ walk away.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this moody, sophisticated vibe — think deep purples and rich fabrics that somehow manage to feel cozy rather than overwhelming. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m talking sink-right-in quality), and the bathrooms have these gorgeous monsoon showers that make you want to stay in there way longer than necessary. What really impressed me was the attention to detail — proper blackout curtains, bedside controls that actually make sense, and windows that open if you’re one of those people who needs fresh air to sleep.

Location & Getting Around

You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You can walk to Manchester Piccadilly station in about ten minutes, which makes it perfect if you’re arriving by train. The Deansgate area is where all the action happens — there’s this great mix of traditional pubs, trendy bars, and proper restaurant options right on your doorstep. I found myself just wandering around in the evenings because there’s always something happening, whether it’s street performers or just the general buzz of people heading out for the night.

Dining & Social Spaces

The hotel’s brasserie downstairs serves up some really solid food — I mean, it’s not going to change your life, but the steaks are excellent and they do a proper full English breakfast that’ll set you up for the day. The bar area gets pretty lively in the evenings, and I actually enjoyed having a drink there before heading out. It’s got this relaxed atmosphere where you can chat with other guests or just people-watch through the big windows facing the street.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both central and intimate at the same time. Couples seem to particularly love it here — and I can see why, given the romantic atmosphere and the fact that you can easily stroll to dinner without dealing with taxis or public transport. The staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay comfortable, and there’s parking available if you’re driving (though honestly, you won’t need your car much once you’re here). It’s one of those hotels where you feel like you’re experiencing the real Manchester, not just staying in some generic chain that could be anywhere.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Manchester around Ancoats for coffee roasteries, tapas bars, and evening markets.

Reviews of Malmaison Manchester Deansgate

  • Vivster from Italy (9/10)

The staff are all very friendly (especially one young chap up in Sora who went out of his way to explain the menu etc when we popped up for a nosey on check-in). If you stay longer than one night, you can opt for eco cleaning of your room and receive drinks vouchers for the bar (valid in both). Breakfast was extremely good, delicious and well presented.
The hotel is in a fantastic location. There are two free bus services in Manchester (number 1 & 2). We took the 2 from Piccadilly station to Deansgate (3 stops) and then it was a quick walk to the hotel. In the other direction, a few minutes walk will get you to St Peter's Square with all the tram stops. We took the tram to Media City for the Lowry Theatre and Imperial War Museum. We also took a tram back to the airport on our last day.
I can also recommend a walking tour (Rock n Goal) which gives a great insight into Manchester.
