Motel One Manchester-Piccadilly Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Motel One Manchester-Piccadilly, you’re immediately struck by how they’ve managed to make a three-star property feel so much more polished than you’d expect. The lobby has this sleek, modern design with deep blues and warm lighting that actually makes you want to linger — not something I can say about most budget-friendly hotels. It’s clear they’ve put real thought into the aesthetics here, and honestly, it sets the tone for everything else about your stay.
Location & Getting Around
You know what’s brilliant about this spot on London Road? You’re literally a two-minute walk from Piccadilly train station, which means you can stumble off the train with your luggage and be checking in before you’ve even fully processed that you’ve arrived in Manchester. The Northern Quarter’s quirky bars and vintage shops are just across the city center, while the main shopping areas around Market Street are an easy stroll away. I mean, couples particularly seem to love this location — there’s something romantic about being right in the heart of everything but still having that quiet retreat to return to.
The Room Experience
The rooms at Motel One Manchester-Piccadilly are compact but incredibly well-designed — think smart use of space rather than cramped. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and they’ve got these floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light during the day. The bathrooms feature rainfall showers that actually have decent water pressure, which is more of a upscale than it should be in this price range. Everything feels clean and contemporary, with enough charging points that you won’t be crawling around on the floor looking for outlets.
Amenities & Atmosphere
The bar downstairs becomes quite the social hub in the evenings — it’s got this relaxed vibe where business travelers mix with tourists, and the cocktails are actually pretty decent. There’s no restaurant, but honestly, you’re in Manchester city center where incredible food options are everywhere within walking distance. The 24-hour front desk staff are genuinely helpful (not just going through the motions), and they seem to know the city well enough to give you proper recommendations rather than just pointing you toward the nearest chain restaurant.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is how it delivers on the essentials without any pretense. You get a great night’s sleep, a hot shower, and you wake up in the middle of one of the UK’s most vibrant cities. The 8.6 rating makes perfect sense when you consider the value proposition — it’s stylish enough to impress but practical enough that you’re not paying for amenities you won’t use. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having a sleek base camp for exploring Manchester without the stuffiness of a traditional hotel.

Myself, my boyfriend and my parents stayed here to watch Peter Kay on Saturday 10th January. We booked over night stay with breakfast. Staff were friendly and checked us in efficiently. The room is basic but had everything we needed, the bathroom needed an extra clean throughout but overall the shower was nice and hot. I’ve stayed in this hotel before and always given my parking ticket to reception on exit and they discounted it (the car park adjoining the hotel) however was told this time that there was no discount, however when getting to the barrier we had only been charged £10 for 24hrs so can’t complain really for that price.
The hotel is quite a bit of a walk from the AO arena but we didn’t meant mind. Everything else was close by including shops / restaurants etc.Nondas from United Kingdom (9/10)
