I wandered over to The Lowry theatre one evening — it’s maybe a 10-minute stroll along the waterfront. The Metrolink tram stop at MediaCity is close enough that getting into Manchester city centre takes about 15 minutes, and you’ll find yourself at Deansgate-Castlefield before you know it. There’s decent parking available too, which honestly surprised me given how central everything is.

What Makes It Work

The apartment sits in the X1 Gateway building, which feels secure and well-maintained — proper key card access and a concierge desk that’s actually staffed. I found the whole setup quite peaceful, even though you’re surrounded by all this development and activity. The ensuite bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping elbows, and the beds are comfortable without being overly fancy. There’s also a decent-sized balcony where I had my morning coffee while watching the city wake up. The attention to detail throughout is impressive.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this place works particularly well for couples — and I can see why, given the space and those views. You’re not cramped into a standard hotel room, but you’re also not dealing with the hassle of a traditional rental property. The building’s restaurant downstairs is handy for a quick bite, though I’d recommend exploring the growing food scene around MediaCity. What really sold me was the combination of feeling like you have your own place while still being walking distance from Old Trafford, the Imperial War Museum North, and all the waterfront developments that make this part of Greater Manchester feel quite special. It’s an exceptional choice for discerning travellers.
